James Van Der Beek is an actor who has appeared in various television and film roles. He was the star of the hit WB program "Dawson's Creek", which has been an influence on the numerous teen oriented hit dramas that have been produced since then on the WB and other networks. He played the main character of Dawson Leery.
James Van Der Beek was born in Cheshire, Connecticut in the year 1977. His birthday is the eighth of March. James Van Der Beek first became interested in acting as a young teen, appearing in Cheshire Academy's production of the musical "Grease" as the male lead Danny Zuko. He continued appearing in plays throughout his teenage years. While going to college at Drew University, James Van Der Beek performed in an a cappella group.
In the mid nineties, James Van Der Beek started finding small film roles. He became well known after starring in "Dawson's Creek", which was one of the first "teen angst" driven dramas that picked up the torch from "Beverly Hills, 90210" and influenced future hit series like "The O.C.". James Van Der Beek also took time off from "Dawson's Creek" to star in "Varsity Blues", a 1999 movie about the pressures of small town high school football.
